It’s rare to find individuals who shine equally in both the arts and business. One such rare gem is Kavi Priya Anandhan, a woman who has not only excelled in the fields of writing, dance, and music but also carved a niche for herself as an innovative entrepreneur. Her passion for social causes further adds to her unique profile. Known for her ease of mingling with luminaries in various fields, Kavi Priya has transformed the wisdom she has gathered into stepping stones for her rapid ascent in both creative and business landscapes. We had the pleasure of meeting Kavi Priya on a fine morning, and she greeted us like an old friend. Her conversation flowed naturally, revealing her humble beginnings and ambitions.
Humble Beginnings in the Art World
"My hometown is Vathalagundu," she began. "I
was born and raised there. My schooling and early education happened in that
small town. I pursued my higher studies in Visual Communication and Computer
Science, followed by an MBA. I started at Loyola and later had the privilege of
studying at the prestigious Harvard Business School in the United States. It
was a proud moment to study alongside heirs of world-renowned families, and I
earned a scholarship to do so."
Even during her school days, Kavi Priya’s love for writing
was evident. She smiled as she shared, "In 7th grade, I was already
earning a considerable amount of money through my writing. I’ve always been
passionate about making others smile, especially children affected by cancer,
the differently-abled, and orphans. In school, I’d organize visits to their
homes, where we’d sing, dance, and cut cakes together. Bringing even a simple
joy to someone else’s life has always been important to me."
Passion for Business and Entrepreneurship
Kavi Priya’s father is a businessman, and perhaps this
familial influence sparked her own early interest in entrepreneurship. "As
a child, I would dream of starting businesses, thinking up ideas like opening
this store or that," she laughed. "Looking back, it seems funny now.
But those childhood dreams are what have brought me to where I am today."
Now, as an entrepreneur, Kavi Priya has founded her own
media company, named after her favorite word, ‘Pullaakari.’ "We produce
corporate films, ads, branding projects, event management, marketing, and book
publishing," she explained. "Our client base spans from local markets
to global territories. It's a fulfilling venture that has allowed me to combine
creativity with business."
A New Venture into Pet Care
In addition to her media company, Kavi Priya has entered the
world of pet care. "During research, I found that quality pet food is
scarce in India. Most premium pet food is imported from countries like Thailand
and the U.S.," she shared. Motivated by this gap in the market, she began
producing high-quality pet food in India, along with clothing and accessories
for pets. "People in developed nations treat their pets with as much care
as they do humans, and we want to bring that culture to India."
She now operates a pet showroom with over 300 animals,
complete with swimming pools for dogs, playgrounds, and a spa-like environment.
"We call it the ‘Dog World,’ and it’s designed to help people relieve
stress by spending time with pets. I personally own 19 dogs of various breeds,
including my favorite, a female dog named Shara. Pet care brings immense joy,
and it’s something I’ve experienced firsthand," she added.
Artistry as a Form of Recharge
Although Kavi Priya’s entrepreneurial journey keeps her
busy, her love for the arts has never diminished. "I formally trained in
Kathak and Bharatanatyam, and I also sing Carnatic music," she revealed.
"Dance and music are my ways of recharging myself, keeping me balanced as
I pursue both art and business."
Her talents also extend to writing, and she has authored a
book titled Living Legends, Learning Lessons, which highlights her
interactions with legendary business figures like Ratan Tata, Narayana Murthy,
and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw. "The book is about the human side of these great
people, showcasing the values they hold dear. I had the honor of launching the
book in the presence of Ratan Tata himself," she said with pride.
A Voice for the Voiceless
Social causes remain close to Kavi Priya’s heart. One of the
most pressing issues she focuses on is child trafficking and exploitation.
"It’s something that deeply disturbs me. So, I decided to make a short
film called The Protected on the topic, where I served as the producer,
director, and voiceover artist," she said. The film has garnered praise
from various circles, including notable figures in the film industry.
"My goal is not just to receive accolades but to ensure
that the message of this film reaches every corner," she explained.
Success Built on Integrity and Teamwork
Reflecting on her journey so far, Kavi Priya credits much of
her success to her dedicated team. "I’ve learned that giving people the
respect and importance they deserve helps them excel in their roles. My team is
my backbone, and I’m grateful for their contributions to our shared
victories," she said.
Despite managing multiple ventures, Kavi Priya insists that
time management has never been an issue. "I don’t believe in wasting time,
so I never feel overwhelmed by the number of things I’m involved in. For me, my
work is my prayer," she concluded with a smile.
Kavi Priya Anandhan is a woman of many talents, whose wings are unseen but whose soaring heights are clearly visible. With a perfect blend of creativity, innovation, and compassion, her future promises even greater achievements.
